Have you noticed that the days you most want to pray, or forgive, or do the right thing are often the days it feels hardest? That the resistance seems to show up precisely when you’re trying to move toward God? You’re not imagining it.<\/p>\n
Paul tells us plainly that our struggle isn’t ultimately against the people and circumstances in front of us, but against unseen spiritual opposition (Ephesians 6:12). That can sound unsettling. But notice what he does next: he doesn’t tell us to be afraid. He tells us to get dressed.<\/p>\n
“Put on the full armor of God,” he writes, “so that you can take your stand.” The response to spiritual resistance isn’t panic or fixation on the enemy. It’s to stand firm in the protection God provides \u2014 and then to keep standing.<\/p>\n
Look at what the armor actually consists of: truth, righteousness, the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the word of God. Here’s the quietly reassuring part \u2014 every single piece is something God supplies, not something you have to generate.<\/p>\n
You don’t have to be strong enough on your own. You don’t have to manufacture your own righteousness or scrape together your own faith. The armor is given. Your job is simply to put on what God has already provided. The strength is his; the getting-dressed is yours.<\/p>\n
This is more practical than it sounds. On a day when the resistance is real, don’t white-knuckle your way through it. Pause and deliberately put on what’s true. Counter the lies with God’s truth. Counter your guilt with his righteousness. Counter your fear with his faithfulness. Pick up the specific promise of Scripture that meets the specific thing you’re facing.<\/p>\n
It’s a small, concrete act \u2014 naming what’s true over what you feel \u2014 but it’s exactly what Paul means by standing firm. The resistance may be real. So is the armor God hands you for it.<\/p>\n
