Young ladies are often inundated with messages telling them what they should do in order to be successful. They are told to be smart, to be pretty, to be popular, to be skinny, to be rich. But what about being godly? What does that look like?
The Bible tells young ladies that as Christians, they are called to a higher standard. Rather than becoming what society dictates them to be, they are actually called to love God with all of their heart, soul, mind and strength. And when they do that, everything else falls into place.
So how can young ladies live out their faith in a way that honors God? The bible has a few suggestions…
Proverbs 31:30 NIV
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
1 Timothy 2:9 NIV
I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes.
Proverbs 11:22 NIV
Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout
is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.
1 Timothy 4:12 NIV
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
Psalm 144:12 NIV
Then our sons in their youth
will be like well-nurtured plants,
and our daughters will be like pillars
carved to adorn a palace.
Proverbs 14:1-2 NIV
The wise woman builds her house,
but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.
Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly,
but those who despise him are devious in their ways.
Proverbs 31:20 NIV
She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
Proverbs 31:26 NIV
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
Song of Solomon 4:7 NIV
You are altogether beautiful, my darling;
there is no flaw in you.
Titus 2:3-5 NIV
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
