A good name is the foundation of your character and who you are as a person. Your reputation is what people think of when they hear your name and it affects the way they see you and treat you. It is a sign of respect and honor. However, a good image is something that you have to work hard for. It doesn’t come easy when you aspire to be someone that people can trust and look up to.
Nonetheless, a good name is something that you want to keep for the rest of your life—not just for the sake of appearances but also for the glory of the Lord. You must be mindful of how you present yourself to the world but more importantly… how you present yourself to God.
The Lord is always watching. No matter what you do, He sees it all. So, if you want to keep a good name in His eyes, make sure you are living up to his standards. Be kind, be honest and be the best person you can be. Let these bible verses show you how:
Proverbs 22:1-2 NIV
A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.
Rich and poor have this in common:
The Lord is the Maker of them all.
Ecclesiastes 7:1 NIV
A good name is better than fine perfume,
and the day of death better than the day of birth.
Proverbs 10:7 NIV
The name of the righteous is used in blessings,
but the name of the wicked will rot.
Isaiah 41:10 NIV
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
John 14:27 NIV
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Matthew 5:19 NIV
Therefore, anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Luke 1:37 NIV
For no word from God will ever fail.
Isaiah 40:31 NIV
But those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Philippians 1:6 NIV
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
