Whether we’ve been bereaved, suffered the loss of a job or a relationship, or circumstances have simply got on top of us, we all have times when we’re more than just sad.
Yet there is hope. We can find comfort in Scripture even when we feel brokenhearted.
Here are ten passages that will speak to those who are in deep pain.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.”
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Proverbs 10:28-9
“The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless, but it is the ruin of those who do evil.”
“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
Jude 1:19-21
“These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
