LOVE: the fulfillment of the law

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law. ROMANS 13:8-10

Love, it all boils down to love. All that God has commanded points to love. Ever since the fall of men, the Lord has been reaching out to men, using people and circumstances to call us back because of love. The Lord in His might could have wiped out humanity, but because of love, He found favor. The Lord fulfilled His promise of restoration and our eternal adoption as His children fulfilled in Jesus Christ, because of love. Jesus, chose to suffer, because of love.

Love indeed is the fulfillment of the law. When we operate in love, we fulfill the law and we are empowered to love because we are dearly loved by the Lord. In today’s unprecedented times where conflicts arise, indifferences divides, crimes and senseless killings are committed, the world needs love, the lost and the wandering needs love, the hurting and the wounding needs to be healed with love. In today’s daily bread, may you be encouraged to begin to see situations and operate out of love, but first, be filled by the Heavenly Father’s love. The only love we need so we can love others, the only love that completes our missing piece.
