What Does the Bible Say about Self-Confidence?

Self-confidence is an intense belief and trust in oneself. It allows a person to push through a difficult situation or complete a complicated task. Whether in school or in the corporate setting, people are encouraged to have self-confidence in order to succeed.

However, what the Bible teaches is God-confidence – or an intense belief and trust that God is in control of everything. The famous proverb said we should trust the Lord with all our hearts, and do not depend on our own understanding. Another psalm reads that it is better to trust in the Lord than have confidence in man, including ourselves.

It is not wrong to have confidence, but it should have the right basis. You are not confident because of what you know or what you can do, but because you know God knows everything, and He will be the One to see you through.
