For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. Jeremiah 29:11-12
Today, we reflect on one of the most popular verses in the Bible that is commonly declared but we will look at it on a deeper way. In context, this verse are the very words of God He gave to the prophet Jeremiah, specifically for the people of Israel, who at that time is in their final years before exile and begins to lose independence as they were slowly conquered by other kingdoms. This exile is a result of the Israel’s disobedience to God to the point that they practice the beliefs of other kingdoms, despite the Lord giving them warnings many times, giving them what they begged. So, this exile entered as a Father’s loving discipline, to align their hearts to God, to call upon His name and become His people again which was fulfilled by Jesus Christ, that blessed so many nations and today and where we enjoy our sonship of God for it is His promise. God did not want them to suffer in the first place, but God knew what will happen, and knows the best for His people.
Reflecting on this, God knows what is best for you. Standing in mundane, in dryness, or when life seems to have no direction as this very time, be encouraged that you are not to stay there. Ask the Lord, what He desires for you. Ask for direction, with your God given talents and abilities, ask the Lord, to lead you where to use it for the glory of His name. You have a loving Father, who sets your life’s purposes. None of us are hopeless, let Him write again the plans for you, for He desires the best for you, until He embraces us all. Go, take a step, God is with you.
