Urgency To Share The Gospel With Others – Pursuing Intimacy With God

Urgency to Share The Gospel With Others

No one besides God knows when Christ will return and the end will come. But I am one of many who believe that we are clearly living in the end times. Many of the signs described in the Bible are happening or have already happened. And it is very possible Jesus’ return could come in our lifetime.

Matthew 24:14 – “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

We Must Have A Sense of Urgency to Share The Gospel With Others

Knowing that time is running out ought to give us an urgency in our attempts to reach out in love to the lost world around us. We need to share the Good News of Christ with as many as possible. And we need to have an urgency in sharing the Gospel with others.

Even if the end will not come in our lifetime, our lives are so short. And we have such little time here to make a difference in the eternal destiny of others. Today’s Christians need to have an urgency to share the Gospel with others, and to reach as many lost people as possible.

We Will Be Held Accountable

We will be accountable to the Lord for how we have spent our lives. All of us, believers and unbelievers, will be judged for our actions and deeds. And all of us will be rewarded or punished for eternity based on our lives here on earth.

“So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.”  – Romans 14:12

“For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds.”  – Matthew 16:27

“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from My mouth, give them a warning from Me. When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.”  – Ezekiel 3:17-19

God Has Called Us To Be “Fishers Of Men”

One of the things we will be accountable for is if we truly followed and obeyed Jesus. Jesus clearly tells us that we are to be “fishers of men”. A fisher of men is a believer who actively shares Christ and the Gospel with others in his/her daily life.

“Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”  – Matthew 4:19

You do not need to be in full time ministry or a missionary to be a fisher of men. An effective and fruitful witness who faithfully reached out in love to lost people. God only calls a small percentage of His children to be in full time ministry such as pastors or missionaries. But Jesus’ command is for all of His people to be fishers of men.

Wherever they are and whatever they are doing in their occupation. Jesus has called and commanded us to actively participate in God’s kingdom mission by sharing the Gospel with others and making disciples.

We Will Be Accountable For Not Sharing The Gospel With Others

God’s word shows us that we will be accountable for how we live and how we obey or disobey God here on earth. And we will be held accountable for not sharing God’s love and the Gospel with others.

“When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.”  – Ezekiel 3:18
