Unlimited: False Messiahs and False Prophets

Jun 29, 2024 1696

At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it.For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. So, be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time (Mark 13:21–23, NIV).

Jesus told his disciples that days of distress are coming, unequalled since the beginning of time.

But they will not only be days of distress, they will also be days of deception, as Jesus described.

The word “Christ” is simply the Greek translation of the Hebrew word “Messiah.”

Jesus very clearly warned his followers that at the time of the end, there will be many false Christs. There will be all kinds of movements and people who will claim to be or to represent Christ and his message.

They will even be supported by false prophets who will perform signs and wonders. The purpose of these Satanic signs and wonders will be to try to deceive the true followers of Jesus.

Your only safety lies in relying on the words of Jesus. That’s why he says,

“Be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.”

It’s easy to talk about these things hypothetically. But just imagine for a moment that your child has cancer and was near death. Along comes a person who you know is an immoral person who is falsely representing Christ, and this person completely miraculously cures your child.

How would you feel? How would you respond?

Think about it.

– Eliezer Gonzalez

Eli’s Reflection: The ways of evil do not always look evil. Steep yourself in God’s Word so that you are equipped to discern what is of God and what is not of God. What are a few passages of truth that you cling to? Put them to memory to recall in the future.
