Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
- Jesus Christ uses the parable of the ten minas to emphasise the need for a good saving and investment culture.
- In the parable, He gave one servant one pound to manage.
- The servant has so many management options for the one pound.
- HE could trade with the money and make interest on it.
- He could save the money and collect some interest on it.
- He could also lend to someone who is credit-worthy and still earn interest.
- But the servant kept the money, and when the nobleman came, he returned his money.
- In most economies, that money would have depreciated because of inflation.
- The lesson here is that you must know how to multiply anything God has placed in your hands.
