Genesis 12:1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you”.
Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran. Abram was an established man. He already had possessions. Maybe in his mind, Haran was the best place for him. Abram acquired livestock and servants in this place. But what is best for man is not God’s best. “go to the land I will show you”. And this time God introduced a much better place to Abram wherein he can call his own. This place is prepared by God for him and to his descendants. But of course, Abram needs to take a step of faith in-order to receive the promise.
At the age of seventy-five, Abram started his journey with God. Abram believed God and he fully trusts God. His faith was incredible, and it made him into a great nation. Because he believed God, he received the blessings, the promise of obedience.
Abram followed God; he grabbed the opportunity to have God’s best for his life. To follow and to avail God’s best, age is not a matter, it is our heart! Without any reasons Abram left Haran and went into the place which was strange to him. God completed the life of Abram in the place that He promised to show to him. There He built not just a family for Abram but a nation whose descendants are countless as many as the stars in the sky or as many as the sand of the seashore.
The truth is, there are blessings for obedience and all people need them. In obeying God, we will receive a package of blessings. That package includes salvation for the soul, salvation, eternal life, good-health, and materials blessings. As stated, “Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold”. Genesis 13:2.
Abram was blessed by God Most High and God made Abram rich. It is same with us who truly obeyed God, it’s not about us but about Him who blessed us. “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen”. Romans 11:36. People need the Lord and people need to obey God for He is faithful and true. Surely, He will bless us if we obey Him.
