In the Bible, it was clear that man will not have an easy life. In fact, we can see the different ways in which man will be tested in the Bible, and it’s amazing how the stories in the Bible still mirror the society we live in today. But of course, as time goes by, the more cruel and evil the world gets. It’s an understatement to say that we Christians get affected too. There will be days when you feel lost, confused, and empty, but always remember that you need to lean on God’s word to get you through. Mark these verses down in your Bible if you need some reminding:
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
Why did Jesus come to Earth? Well, it wasn’t to be in the company of the righteous Christians; it was actually to save the fallen. Jesus came here to save the lost and bring them home to the Lord. Even though this happened a long, long time ago, know that nothing has changed. Jesus is the same as he was, He will still find us and save us when we’re lost. Find comfort in knowing that whenever you feel down, you have a personal savior, and that should make you feel a whole a lot better.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
When you feel sad, your heart becomes heavy. And when this heaviness takes over your heart, that’s when you feel lost. Being lost leads to anxiety as you have no clue what to do or where to go in your life anymore. But in the verse above, God made it clear that you must not be afraid and dismayed for He will give you strength and help you. Best of all, He will uphold you whenever you’re down.
Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish.
Remember that Jesus was human too. He knows our troubles, He went through them Himself. He saw the wickedness of the world with His own eyes. He felt the evil that was taking over the hearts of man. You can be rest assured that God understands what you’re feeling. However, for God to help you, you must cry out to him and let him know of your troubles. Pray to him. Ask for his grace, and He will relieve your heart from pain.
But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’
It’s one thing to feel lost in life, but it’s another thing to wander away from God. The latter can be the result of the former, which is why before you wander away, you must pray for God to find you. However, don’t be complacent. Feeling lost can make you think plenty of wrong things like you didn’t really deserve God’s grace anyway, or the Lord has grown tired of you. There’s no truth to that. God is patient, His love is patient, and He doesn’t judge you based on your faults. If you’re lost, He will find you because He loves you.
Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.
The Lord is our shepherd. We must know that He will find us even if we wander away. God doesn’t find pleasure in just saving a couple of lost souls, He wants to save us all, that’s how much he loves us. So, don’t think for a second that you don’t matter, because you do. If you are lost, the Lord will find you and He will not grow tired in doing that again and again.
There will always be days when you feel lost. Some days, you’ll feel more lost. The best way to protect yourself from those negative feelings is to always have the Holy Spirit in your heart. When there are days when you don’t know how to get home, seek God and let him guide you. Remember, there is no place that’s too far away for God to find us and reach us.
