“Now when Daniel knew that the document was signed, he entered his house (now in his roof chamber he had windows open toward Jerusalem); and he continued kneeling on his knees three times a day praying and giving thanks before his God, as he had been doing previously.” DANIEL 6:10
The greatest athletes became great not because they were born to be that way, nor they became champions overnight. They became great because of their time, sacrifice, and dedication throughout their years of training. And also because of their habits as they trained to become a successful athlete.
Just like how Daniel demonstrated a lifestyle of prayer when he was faced with life-threatening adversity. He fearlessly showed how rooted his faith in God is by praying three times a day as he always had. Daniel responded in a way that honored the Lord despite the peer pressure surrounding him. He held on to his convictions.
It is important for you to know that Daniel did not become who he is overnight. He understood that to be a follower of God, one must be willing to please the Lord regardless of the challenges thrown their way. Daniel maintained to be a good follower of God through His discipline of prayer. And because he is used to praying three times a day, he did not have a hard time making time for it as it is already part of his daily routine.
Developing this habit requires consistency in the daily act of submission to the Lord, including talking to Him regularly. You must understand that you can never grow spiritually by just going to church or attending bible studies. You need a personal relationship with Him, which can only be achieved through reading His word and a lot of praying.
May you be encouraged today to pray regularly. Find time, and not make time. Do not make excuses. Set aside a time when you are not interrupted by your busy schedule. Do not let the things of this world cut your prayer time. Build a habit where you can have a lifestyle of prayer. You’ll be surprised how God will work wonders and how prayer changes you. Just like what happened with Daniel.
