But let all who take refuge in you rejoice, let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. Psalm 5:11
A joyful state of life is what most of us desire. Who doesn’t want to experience joy? In fact, in our everyday life, we quest in looking for joy and reasons to be glad. We look for gladness at home or in our families, we look for gladness in our work and studies, we look for gladness by doing the hobbies we love, we look for gladness by acquiring things we desire to have. At some point, all these sources of happiness gave us enough reasons to be glad. But seasons pass by, we look back and see some of them no longer make us joyful. In short, they are re-shaping, fleeting and something is still missing.
But in today’s daily bread, we ponder and remind ourselves to be joyful for one primary reason, and that is being under the refuge of our loving God. We rejoice in our walk with Christ, for He is our living water that will never make us thirsty and run dry, we rejoice in our eternal salvation, for in Christ we are saved from condemnation and eternal damnation. We rejoice, because despite of all that is happening and in all seasons of our lives, the Lord remains constant and good, in Him, we have hope that fuels us to be joyful even in suffering, waiting, and growing.
Today, be joyful with the Lord and being under His wing, praise Him of His goodness, mercy, and love. Praise Him for who He is, and see gladness unfold in your life. This joy is truly unexplainable, for it is not a thing, but an unseen gift that only God can give. “Restore to us the joy of our salvation”, let this be our prayer, draw near to God and experience His joy.
