We all move with hopes, when hope is absent, there is no reason to push forward. But because we have high hopes, it fuels us to go against the tides of impossibilities. One of the lines of wisdom shared by Augustine of Hippo, is that our hope comes with two grounds.
First, anger. An emotion of ravage and sorrow from deep within for not seeing the way things we hoped it to be. Feeling this, one is left with a choice to remain on the same ground or jump off to another which is, courage.
Courage enables us to refuel our hopes out of anguish, that what we see will not remain as it is, thus, we move forward and carry the same hope that we have. But if there is one thing we need to ensure, that our hope is the one that does not fleet, but rather a hope that’s higher than our thoughts, hope through the lenses of eternity, and a hope that roots in the love, mercy and grace of our Lord through Christ.
“Indeed, there is hope for a tree. If it’s cut down and still sprouting and its shoots don’t fail, if its roots age in the ground and its stump dies in the dust, at the scent of water, it will bud and produce sprouts like a plant.” Job 14:7-9
True enough, when we stand in the solid foundation of the Lord, though life knock us down in anger, yet in Him, we find the courage to press on and hope again. And as we progress, we become steadfast in tribulations and the Lord make us bear fruit of joy in the midst of trials and allow our eyes to see and our minds to understand and our hearts to beat for things that are eternal.
