“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” ROMANS 8:28
It’s comforting to know that God causes all things to work together for good. It gives us so much peace knowing that He can turn what the enemy meant for evil into something good. But the Scripture doesn’t stop there. It says, “all things work together for the good of THOSE WHO LOVE HIM and WHO ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE.”
You see, this promise is not for everybody. This promise is only for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. So check your heart and ask yourself these questions: Do you believe God has a plan for you? Do you love Him with all your heart, soul, and mind? Because while He is in control, we also have a responsibility to fulfill.
May this be an encouragement for you today to love the Lord despite not knowing His next move. Love the Lord even when you don’t know when or how long it will take for you to see the good. Love the Lord despite all your doubts and uncertainties. Because the truth is, His “good” is different from the world’s description of “good.” But know that His “good” is always what is best for you.
So when the Bible tells you to love Him otherwise, choose to do it. Serving God is a responsibility. And responsibility is the fruit of love. You can never learn how to love Him just by waiting for the good. He sees you, and He has an amazing plan for you. But you have to do your part in serving Him.
There will be many times in your life when you will feel discouraged and defeated, but I hope you always choose to love Him. Trust that He is working, even when you don’t feel like He can turn the bad into something good. He is working on ALL things, not just the beautiful parts. But especially on the messy ones. So take heart! God’s got you.
