God Pardons – Micah 7:18

“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.” – Micah 7:18

God has not finished with Israel as many erroneously teach, despite the fact that for hundreds of centuries they have rebelled against their God as a nation, and Micah was one of a company of God’s prophets, who forewarned of terrible judgement to come. They had followed in the footsteps of the godless gentile nations and become proud and covetous. They had forsaken the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Who had promised glorious blessing if they would walk in His ways and severe cursing if they disobeyed the holy One of Israel.

Like other watchmen on the wall, Micah looked down the corridors of time to proclaim a Saviour, Who is Christ the Lord – and His name was to be called Jesus.. for He shall save His people, Israel, from their sins. Although Israel crucified their Messiah and King, God has not finished His people, as many erroneously teach, for in the final verses of this powerful prophecy we see a future time, when God will pardon their iniquity and passover the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession.

In that day God will forgive them their sins, because the blood of their Saviour cleanses all who cry, blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord. God will not retain His anger forever, because He delights in unchanging love, and that love is not only extended to Israel (His earthly inheritance,) but the Church (His heavenly inheritance)

At a time when much of the body of Christ seems to have lost its way and has succumbed to many false doctrines, that are infiltrating many churches , let us rejoice with Israel and sing, Who is a God like You, Who has pardons iniquity and saved us, by grace, through faith.

Praise God that we are not appointed to wrath – for Christ took that punishment on our behalf – because He is the same yesterday, today and forever – and God delights in unchanging love.
