Salvation is a popular word in the Christian world that pertains to eternal security of the soul. The term came from the late Latin word salvare which means “to save.” The word implies that mankind needs to be saved from punishment, probably due to sin, in order to reach God’s abode in heaven upon death.
Throughout history, there have been various views concerning salvation that were adapted by different religious groups. Some of these views were based on Scripture, while others were based on traditions passed down from generation to generation.
But what does the Bible say about salvation? Can it be achieved by becoming a good person? Does it require membership to a particular religious organization? How does one get it?
