Jesus is Our Burden Bearer – Isaiah 53:3-6

Dear God:

I have set out on this mission with the hopes that you will gird us with Your strength and encourage us with Your words.

I cling to Your promise that You will not leave us nor forsake us.

This journey is a path for us to bring healing to old wounds. But with all wounds, they must first be exposed, cleansed, and cared for before they can heal.

This process can be painful, and we will need Your healing touch to carry us through.  In the hopes of discovering a new path for our lives, we should come to terms with the wounds that still hurt.

Pain from the past derives from actions and words. Words like lazy, mean, fat, slow, different, ugly, etc. cuts deep and hard. Each unkind word, when spoken, carries with it a dart that launches itself into the deep recesses of the heart.

It drives itself deep enough to where one (almost) cannot find it.  It carries with it a poison that seeps into the daily thought life.

Every word heard and spoken becomes tainted by these thoughts. The lie becomes the truth as we start to believe the words that hurt, not heal.

Jesus promises us “beauty for ashes.”

All of the pain and hurt can be healed as we lay them at His beautiful feet. Just say, “Jesus, I’ve held on to this long enough. I give it over to you. Help me not to take it up again. Thank you that You are the burden bearer and I no longer have to carry the weight of this sorrow.”

Isaiah 53:3-6 Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.
