The world discriminates against the innocent without a second thought. God’s love for all humans has been despised by wickedness. What does the Bible say about discrimination?
Have you ever been hated or discriminated against before? I guess you have. It happens to almost everyone. However, this doesn’t mean we should call it “human nature.” No! This is an insolent behavior that needs to be frowned upon — just like how God detests such a kind of lifestyle. Have you ever thought of knowing if there is anything like discrimination in the Bible?
Today I will shower you with the inspiration to handle any kind of discrimination as a child of God. In addition, you would be introduced or reintroduced to a couple of Bible verses that talk about the dangers of being impartial. The world is suffering from racism, injustice, and envy. These are some of the crafty devices the Devil use to draw many people from God.
I could barely recall the last time I was discriminated against. This often happens at the workplace, and I know how some races, junior staff, and females are valued less at their respective workplaces.
The carnal minds would find it fun and rewarding to discriminate against their fellow humans. But he who claims to be a child of God would have no interest in favoritism of any kind.
Unfortunately, it happens in marriages, workplaces, schools, social events, societies, and even in the church. We ought to open our eyes and learn from Christ Jesus whose humility and justice are beyond reasoning.
Equality Before God
According to the Bible, God created man in His own image.
“And God created humankind in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
Are we therefore not genetically related? There is no need in giving special love or attention to one and despise the other in your own evil way. Where is the love?
God doesn’t love because of a man’s color, beauty, wealth, power, wisdom, money, or whatsoever. We are all equal before God. He looks deep into the soul and renders His righteous judgment.
We are all one in God’s eyes as the scriptures say:
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28)
He shows no favoritism but with the same love, He sent his only son to come and die for us.
As descendants of Adam and Eve, we ought to value each other, because we are the image of the same God.
Righteous Judgment From The Bible
Taking a critical look at this topic about discrimination in the Bible, we could understand that God does not forbid us to judge. Oh Yes! We can judge but that judgment must be right. What is wrong in the sight of God is wrong? Nothing restrains us from making such kind of righteous judgment.
“Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31:9)
We use the word of God to rebuke, reprimand, and correct people who are straying away from the truth and the amazing salvation plan of God.
A child of God must know how to evaluate others according to the will of God. As Apostle Paul said, he doesn’t judge people by human standards but by the standards of God. What is sin and what is wrong can never be twisted to please God.
Prejudice and the Law of Love
The Book of James chapter 2 gives us a vivid example of how discrimination violates God’s word. The poor or the needy is always at a disadvantage to the rich. This could be a reference to any kind of discrimination going on in our world. Once again let me ask “where is the love”?
It begins by saying:
“My brothers and sisters, do not show prejudice if you possess faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ.” (James 2:1)
The passage condemns anyone who values a fellow human over the other because of money, wealth, or anything about appearance. This is one of the biggest problems our generation is facing.
This has made people lose the essence of their worth on this planet. All because of how people underestimate them for various reasons.
I like this rhetorical question from James:
“Do you pay attention to the one who is finely dressed and say, “You sit here in a good place,” and to the poor person, “You stand over there,” or “Sit on the floor”? (James 1:3)
