Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Genesis 1: 3-4 “And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.”
In the beginning, God created everything on earth before He created man and woman. After He created everything for man, all was good then He rested. Wherever in this world, light is needed especially at night time. When the sun rises, it gives light to all people living on this earth and gives hope to those who are in the darkest times. At daytime, most people take advantage of doing their tasks, work, and accomplish many things. Sunlight gives energy to some living creatures and most importantly to us. Obviously, light is very important to us because, without it, there are no accomplishments in our work, helpless, lifeless, and no hope for tomorrow. Now, God, the creator doesn’t want that to happen.
When Jesus Christ said “You are the light of the world”, it means that once we receive Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior, we, Christians, are separated from darkness, we are in this world but not in this world. It encourages us to live according to what the bible teaches. Therefore, if we are light of the world, it must be shone through our life testimony, it must be reflected through our speech and character, and that Jesus Christ must be seen in us so that our Father in heaven be praised and glorified as Matthew 5:16 says, “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
Be God’s instrument in changing the lives of the people. Give hope to those who are hopeless, be a light to those who are in darkness. Let it shine wherever and whatever we do. It is our duty to bring light to the world, so that they may have the life that is eternal in Christ Jesus. Our life will be more meaningful every day if we are living in the light of Jesus Christ.
