“The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” John 14:17
As we indulge in the word, we commune with the Lord, the eyes of our hearts are opened, and the Holy Spirit who dwells in us is the one that helps us understand the very words of God. The spirit plants the words of the Lord in our hearts, for he sanctifies us in the truth, and God’s word is the truth (John 17:17)
Loving the scripture reminds us of the work of the helper, the Holy Spirit, that everyday is with us, without him, we will never understand the scripture, nor will we have the delight for it. As the Jesus Christ promised to his followers saying, “but the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” (John 14:26)
To love the scripture doesn’t just mean we are reading it, but also means walking with the spirit that teaches us the ways of the Lord, so we can walk by the spirit and bear its wonderful fruits of an ultimate love and goodness that are not by our own efforts but as a result of communing with the Lord through the Spirit.
