“So do not worry, saying, ‘what shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:31-34 NIV)
If we look around, many people are worried about their lives because of the pandemic. Many businesses were wrecked because of the situation. Our movements are limited, and we need to follow all the health protocols otherwise we are at high risk. We are worried about our life on how to survive. The world is full of pressures that are so heavy on a person. Maybe you do not know what to do while watching your starving child. If a person without Christ in their lives they might commit suicide because life for them is nothing but full of worries.
But the good news for us the believers of Jesus Christ, he said. So do not worry, saying, ‘what shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’”. God will provide all our needs as he provides the needs of the birds in the air. Are we not more valuable than the birds? And why do we worry? God provided everything we need. He loves us so much more than anything in this world. If we want a life free of worries, we need to trust God with all our hearts. We need to commit everything to him. We need to set our focus on him alone.
Our focus must be on him alone. When Jesus said. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”.(Matthew 6:33) This statement is so clear that we need to seek first his kingdom, meaning, our focus must be on his righteousness and all the things that we need in this world will be added unto us.
To seek his kingdom is, to glorify God in everything we do. Therefore, do not worry. This message is important and comforting. Do not focus on earthly things but on heavenly things. Do not allow the devil to distract your focus but seek help from the Holy Spirit to help you and guide you in everything you do. To glorify God is our top priority in life.
No matter how long the pandemic will end or whatever trials we are facing today, we have no worries for “if God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). And all these things will be added unto us. The real children of God have no worries in life.
