‘“On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.) John 7:37-39
Anyone who are thirsty, come to Christ! These words shouted by the Lord Jesus Christ, an exciting invitation to the people whom he knows needs.
And today, it is us! As humans, we are thirsty and we long to be satisfied, as though we are like a glass of water that needs to be filled and re-filled all over again, and Jesus Christ is that water that we need.
How is He the water that fills our thirst? We thirst for love, physical and spiritual healing, consolation, strength, and affirmation in which the Lord Jesus can only give. We may have outlets in this world that satisfy us, but that is only for a short time, and we will eventually be running out. In Jesus, it’s different, even in our lack and in our inadequacy, we are filled! Christ plants purposes in our lives that we may live a life with vision and live it out with mission while we wait for his return. Today, satisfy your thirst with the living water, Jesus Christ.
