“For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever.“ Hebrews 7:26-28
In today’s daily bread, we look at one of the most important truths that we are to truly recognize and hope unto as children of God. Christ, being the chief high priest. It is important for everyone of us to realize this role of Jesus, for it is He who represents us before the perfect and holy God. Christ is our righteousness, our perfect high priest who gave us a way towards the heart of our Abba Father and through Jesus, we share the spirit of sonship, no longer we are orphans but children of God. Looking back in History, from Adam, Eve, to David and down to many priests, all failed yet pointed to the promise of God to give us a savior who will be our identity and who will ultimately struck the deceiver.
Now how does this priesthood of Christ impact our lives? It gives us a secured identity. Being secured in Christ, let the unbelief in our hearts end. Let not the voice of the enemy that pull us back and forth to his ways be ever given a chance, for we have Jesus Christ who intercedes for us, who understands what it feels to be tempted, who feels our human pain, and most of all, who looks at us with compassion.
Today, may you be encouraged to renew your identity, let this cause joy in our hearts more than any earthly treasures. We rejoice for we have a great high priest in our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Therefore in Him, we live with confidence, joy and courage as salts and light of this world.
