Unlimited: Belief and Unbelief

If you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.
“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief” (Mark 9:23–24, NIV)!
Jesus was faced with a man who doubts whether Jesus can heal his son who is possessed by an evil spirit. The man begged Jesus to take pity on them. How did Jesus respond to this man?
The father immediately clutched the words of Jesus as a drowning person clutches a life buoy.
Jesus said that faith is the door that unlocks every possibility in life.
Notice how the man acknowledged that at some level he believed, although he also recognised how imperfect his faith was.
I want you to think of a situation in your life that has brought you to desperation.
How strong is your faith with regard to that situation? Perhaps you’ve even stopped praying about it.

Eli’s Reflection: Are you willing to pray this father’s prayer: “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief”? I encourage you to set aside a special time to put your problem in Jesus’ hands and ask him to also give you faith for the places you doubt Him.
