Unlimited: Jesus Answers Jairus’ Call
Mar 28, 2024 1318
When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” So, Jesus went with him (Mark 5:21–24, NIV).
Jesus is back on the eastern Jewish shore of Lake Galilee. He barely landed, and then the crowds surge around once again. Next is a series of powerful miracles.
So far, ordinary people have joyfully welcomed Jesus and his message. But the people who were more influential and who were leaders in their communities largely rejected him, and some, in fact, were trying to kill him.
Jesus Answers Jairus
This father took a lot of courage to do what he did. To come to Jesus and fall at his feet and beg him to heal his little girl, who was critically ill. It was the courage of desperation.
And so, Jesus Answers Jairus and follows him to his home, and a large crowd of people went with him.
Some things are easy to say but more difficult to actually do. What will it take for you to come before Jesus and fall at his feet?
Too often God has to allow us to get to the point of desperation and helplessness before we realise that we can’t do it at all, and that we need the power of Jesus.
– Eliezer Gonzalez
Eli’s Reflection: Have you reached the point of desperation? If you have, the story tells you what you need to do. If you haven’t, why wait? Come to Jesus now and fall at his knees and admit that you need him in your life.
