Wake Up and Pray!

Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down, and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

It was His habit to go out to the Mount of Olives to pray. He was on earth as a human being and he fully understood that the power of the mighty God who sent him works through constant Prayers.

Prayer is our guide to our plans. It is our only guide to future plans. We don’t know what happens tomorrow. During this time, Jesus knows what happens in the future during his prayer times in the mount of Olive but why did He pray? On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” It means there’s a test. You don’t know if you would wake up when you sleep tonight, you would say you don’t need Prayers before sleeping. Don’t ever think without prayers your plans would be successful tomorrow, next day, next month, or next year. That’s being proud and God hates proud people. Not praying means relying on yourself. Success comes when we commit to the Lord, whatever we do. “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:4.

He wants you to be humble at all times. Whatever is your life status now, you need to acknowledge that without Him, you are nothing, and he is the powerful God who protects you and blesses the work of your hands.

The temptation comes because Satan would like to destroy us. We cannot defeat him in our own way, that is why we need God’s power. We need PRAYER!

Satan is like a roaring lion who’s looking for someone to devour. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.1 Peter 5:8 Lion’s character is far-sighted, visionary and his sense of smell are very sensitive. When he sees or smells some weak points in you, he shall attack like a lion who destroys its prey.

When Jesus rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.” Luke 22:45. Now that we understood the importance of Prayers, it’s time for you to wake up. Fight the weaknesses of your body and start Praying.
