To be consistent is to persevere, to continue, and to endure among other things. It is one of the qualities that make up successful people. However, as far as the Bible is concerned, man’s consistency is always found wanting.
In reality, most people are not consistent when pursuing goals, changing their life perspectives, and so forth. What the Scripture teaches is God’s consistency. One attribute of God that we ought to apply in our lives is His long-suffering, or ability to endure. Despite man’s rejection of His offer of salvation, He endures and extends the invitation.
As followers of Christ, we ought to be consistent as well, especially in our daily walk with Him. There should be no place for compromise or having a laid-back attitude when dealing with sin. Fortunately, God’s help is available to improve our consistency in our faith.
