Life is a gift from God, and taking it forcefully from a person is a crime and sin. In the Bible, God dealt seriously and strictly with the Israelites in implementing capital punishment. Why is that? It is because God Himself was the One giving orders to the Jews.
Back then, disobedience was not only against the rules of the nation, but the laws of God. As a result, He instructed His people to exact capital punishment to those erring Jews.
However, in this time and age, we are living under God’s grace, where we can accept Christ as our Savior, and be forgiven from our sins. Killing someone for their sins and mistakes would take away that opportunity for good.
As we read the Scriptures, we can see God does not want anyone to perish, but come to repent for their sins. What verses can we read about death penalty in the Bible?
