What Does the Bible Say about Human Dignity?

Dignity talks about a man’s character. Today, a man’s popularity or importance are based on his outward appearance, his possessions, and his abilities. However, the Bible teaches that human dignity is more important than all these. Beauty fades, riches can get stolen, and abilities can be taken away by disabilities and injuries, but dignity remains.

Human dignity is showcased by how a person conducts himself in front of people. Certain passages of Scriptures describe women, preachers, and teachers among those who should emulate a dignified personality. However, everyone should check every once in a while how people perceive you based on your character.

As Christians, remember that God looks at the heart, and that is true. However, those who have not yet trusted Christ as their Savior do not know how to deal with abstract terms like faith. That is why we should show it to them by living a dignified life.
