A lukewarm state is neither hot nor cold, and God is not pleased with it. One of the most popular Bible references for lukewarm Christians is in Revelation when Jesus rebuked the church at Laodicea.
Lukewarmness results from a Christianity that is neither hot nor cold, meaning not too “evil” and not too “righteous.” This believer often does not apply whatever he hears and reads from the word of God, and is blinded by the treasures, lusts, and pleasures of this life. Why is this so? Because they want to gain the benefits of both worlds.
What God wants for His people is full allegiance and dependence. He is not pleased when Christians fail to rely on Him, and instead depend on things of this world. Jesus Christ told this church that they are poor, blind, and naked.
