What Does the Bible Say about Respect?

The Word of God is full of right principles and points for good behavior. Anyone who is reading it should just maintain an open mind to understand it, and a willing heart to obey it. When it comes to respect, some people hold on to the saying “respect demands respect.”

However, the Bible teaches no such thing. The Apostle Paul encourages Christians not to deal wickedly against other people but treat everyone with respect. This in turn would result in a peaceful life, away from trouble and conflict. It would also help them share the gospel with these people.

Another principle that Christians need to understand is that even though we don’t receive respect from others, we must remain respectful toward them. This is what separates a Christ-follower from a self-follower.
