Christianity is often described as a “religion of salvation,” In the biblical context, salvation is understood as freedom from sin, which is described as a state of disharmony with God. The Greek word for sin, “hamartia,” signifies “missing the mark” and represents a fundamental deviation in the relationship between God and humanity. The Bible says beyond just an ethical and moral fall. Sin the Bible says is a fundamental separation between God and humanity. It speaks of the brokenness in this relationship, the concept of sin and God’s wrath toward mankind.
We need to recognize the condition of all humanity, the urgency and seriousness of the situation. Just as a patient must identify their illness before seeking treatment, acknowledging sin as the root cause allows for the pursuit of healing and restoration. By confronting the reality of sin, we can better comprehend the depth of the need for salvation and Jesus as the Savior.
Real healing and reconciliation with God start with honestly looking at our spiritual state. Instead of ignoring tough truths, admitting sin as the essential problem helps us understand the powerful change salvation brings. Like getting a diagnosis before treatment, recognizing sin as the root problem lays the foundation for experiencing the fullness of God’s love and redemption.

It’s a sin to go against the instructions of the manufacturer…

It is like putting diesel fuel in a vehicle that was designed to operate on gas thus it will not be long before DEATH overtakes that engine.

5. Starr Groff: “Sin is transgression of God’s law and the disobedience to His commands. It is the result of the fallen nature of humanity and the presence of the spirit of iniquity, which is the devil, working in the flesh. Sin is a choice that individuals make to yield to their own lusts and desires, going against the will of God. However, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, sin has been condemned in the flesh, and believers have the power to overcome sin and live a life pleasing to God (Romans 7:14-25; Romans 8:3).”
6. Tiffany Nicole Troy: “David Langstaff Your assumption isn’t supported by Scripture at all. Ye are of your father the devil, sin is passed through Adam’s bloodline, the root of sin is UNBELIEF IN THE WORD… Not hatred 😑
(AGAIN) Jesus described sin in John 16:9 – True sin is unbelief in Jesus/the Word. Sin is being your own God by putting your thoughts and feelings ABOVE what the Word says.
Missing the mark applies to the old testament as this is the Hebrew translation of repentance, to turn away.
We must define sin how Jesus did in the Word; and when we consider the repentance Jesus spoke on in the new testament, it was Greek for metanoia. Meaning to transcend your thoughts to higher things AKA reject your thoughts/feelings that don’t align perfectly with Scripture. That is how permanent change is made, through the work of the Word/Jesus.
2 Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
…as to Galatians 5 it starts with 5:1 “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage (the Law).” The chapter then goes on to explain why we must walk by Faith in Jesus aka BELIEF IN HIM – John 16:9.”
