In the book of 1 Corinthians, the Apostle Paul elaborated heavily on the gifts that the Holy Spirit has imparted to Christians. Also called spiritual gifts, these abilities were given by the Spirit to individual believers upon salvation.
Spiritual gifts vary in scope and effects on people, but the main goal is the same – each of these gifts should be used to minister unto others. Some of the gifts given to Christians include gift of giving, encouragement, and exhortation. These gifts should never be used for personal gain but for the glory of God.
A non-believer may have generosity, but without the Spirit of God, it is not a spiritual gift. The Apostle Paul reminds his readers that not everyone would receive the same gift, but it is God who decides how many gifts He would entrust an individual, based on his own abilities.
