Suicide is never right, yet in our time, some people and organizations think people who want to commit suicide have the right to pursue it. As a result, the term “assisted dying” became controversial, yet approved in a few countries.
However, according to the Bible, no one has the right to take life except God, because it is He who gave it in the first place. The sixth commandment of Moses said do not commit murder, and that includes self-murder. No matter how deep or great a person’s struggles and problems are, he has no right to take his own life as far as God is concerned.
The Scriptures offer hope, and that hope is in Jesus Christ. Individuals who are contemplating suicide should be given emotional and spiritual support by their peers, relatives and even colleagues. Why? Because once a life is taken, it loses the ability for growth, change, and a second chance.
