It is often said that words have power. But where did this idea come from? Believe it or not, this idea came from the Bible. God, in His majesty and power, was the first ever to showcase this. He created the entire universe with just words.
Scriptures also point to the power of pronouncement of words, or as some would call it “claiming and declaring.” There is some truth in these ideas, but the Bible is more specific in these areas. One can only claim such statements if he has already consulted it with God, and He said “yes.”
The third aspect of the power of words is their ability to both bless and curse. James in his epistle pointed this out to Jewish believers who bless God and curse other people.
