Fearing the Lord is the beginning of discernment, but fools have despised wisdom and moral instruction. Proverbs 1:7 NET
Everyday we battle to overcome fears that bring discouragements and stifle us from doing great works. Fear most of the time isn’t healthy in our walk, as it is one of the enemy’s weapons that stops us from taking courageous steps in many aspects. In every fear that we conquer, we become stronger. But there is this fear that is humbling and transforming – the fear of the Lord.
Fearing the Lord is a remarkable turn in our journey. It is that fear that does not leave us stiff and hopeless, but rather a fear that consoles us in our brokenness and in humility, where we find ourselves admitting our flaws and where Godly conviction is planted that bears the fruit of wisdom that guides us in our day to day life. For through this fear, we acknowledge that we trust a sovereign, mighty and all powerful God, that from Him all things are created that every breath we breathe is in His hands. This fear puts us to bow down and lift the highest praise to Him in all seasons, and this fear compels us to love Him with all that we are where His words become treasure for us. Though sometimes, this kind of fear has to re-occur in order to remind us that our human wisdom is finite, that it can no longer answer our questions and find ourselves on our way back to the wisdom of our Lord. Thus, the fear of the Lord is necessary, in this we give reverence to our creator, and in this we walk towards the heart of our Father.
Today, fear the Lord, that you may have a sound understanding and Godly wisdom as you face the realities of this earthly life. Fear the Lord, that you may know the Father’s heart. May the fear of the Lord bring you the purest joy.
