One popular anecdote says “promises are made to be broken.” That is certainly true if you are referring to promises made by people, including yourself. We simply cannot fulfill all the promises we make because that is who we are – we cannot do everything we say we would do.
However, God is the exact opposite of that. We may be lacking, but God is all sufficient. We may fail numerous times in this life, but God can do anything according to His will. Because of that, we can hold on to the fact that whenever God makes a promise, He will and can surely do it.
