Suffering is one of those topics that some casual Bible readers, and even those who preach victory and abundance try to avoid. It’s because suffering cannot be predicted just because someone is doing the good thing.
The Book of Job deals with this topic extensively, and shows that while blessings come to those who obey the Lord, suffering can happen to anyone. But why? It is through suffering that one increases his faith in God. Without problems and trials, man tends to move away from his Creator, thinking that he is all sufficient.
Sufferings bring us back to our senses, that we are imperfect, and that only God can complete us and get us through. However, that is the crucial point: unless a man realizes that truth, he would find it very difficult to understand and overcome any suffering in his life.
